Who Can Become A Referee?

Although there is no age requirements to becoming a referee, we encourage children to wait until they are at least 12 years old. Children that have played for many years and are more responsible may be capable of becoming referees before they are 12. We invite anybody interested in becoming a referee to contact the head referee or use the form (below) and get further information.

Benefits of Becoming a Referee.

Referees are paid for the work. Referees are paid from $16.00 (for U5 games) up to $50 (for U19 full sided games). Additionally, the Port St. John Soccer Club is offering anyone 20 years old or older an extra $2.00 per game for their first 25 games. This extra money can buy a referee their first set of referee equipment.

How Can You Become a Referee?

There are requirements that must be met to become a referee. Potential referees must attend classes for 18 hours. The fee for the class and sign up for the class can be found on the Florida State Referee Website (www.fsr-inc.com). The classes are typically spread across 3 weeks (2 classes per week, 3 hours per class). A test is given and a minimum score of 75 is required to become a referee. After successfully completing the class, the referee will have to pass a background check. Please contact us for more information.
